Where is the Fisherman's Friend knife?
It is picked up on the way to somewhere else. The route is the merchant's ring quest; the knife is a detour up the tower, and the walkthrough reads the numbers off the screen.
Quick answer
Take the merchant's second quest, the one to recover his ring, which sends you past the tower to a beach and a cave called Blind Grotto. Continue forward along the beach until a very large tower stands in front of you. Climb it: where the main road carries on is not where you go — cut across towards the archer instead and continue up the pass. At the top, past a couple of enemies, is a treasure chest holding a spell, several potions and the knife. One walkthrough reads its tooltip on screen: 55 damage, +10 swimming, and additional damage over time. For comparison he notes his own one-handed sword at 40 and his two-handed sword at 30.
Early Access note: this page is verified for Early Access Update 7; mechanics, locations and commands may change in later updates.
Steps
- Take the merchant's second quest, to get his ring back. The walkthrough uses that quest purely as the route; the knife is not its objective.
- Travel past the tower to the beach the ring quest points at. The cave the ring quest wants is named Blind Grotto.
- Keep going forward along the beach rather than entering the cave. A very large tower comes into view directly ahead — the walkthrough says there is no way to miss it.
- Begin the climb. At one point the main road continues in one direction while the route you need goes the other way, towards an archer who shoots at you. Ignore the archer and carry on up the pass.
- Reach the top. There are a couple of enemies there which the walkthrough leaves alone.
- Open the treasure chest at the top. It contains a spell, several potions, and the Fisherman's Friend.
What the tooltip says, and what it is worth
Three figures are read off the screen: 55 damage, +10 to swimming, and additional damage over time. The damage-over-time effect is stated without a number or a duration, because the recording does not show one.
The creator's own framing is that 55 sounds unimpressive until you compare it. His one-handed sword at that point in the run deals 40 and his two-handed sword deals 30. Those are his character's weapons at his level, not published item baselines, so the comparison establishes that the knife is strong for early play rather than that it out-damages every two-handed weapon in the game.
He also notes it is obtainable almost from the beginning, which is the practical reason the page exists: the route is a detour on a quest you can take early, not an endgame reward.
The bridge he could not reach
Twice on the climb the walkthrough stops at a bridge near a campfire and says he cannot make the jump because his acrobatics skill is not high enough. He tries repeatedly and fails every time, says the tower has another secret behind it, and asks viewers who have got across to say what is there.
This site has no source that reaches it. It is recorded here because a reader standing in the same place will see the same bridge and should know that the one person who filmed this route did not get over it either, and that his reason was a skill check rather than a missing route.
Requirements / limits
- One creator, one recording, uploaded 21 August 2026 — the same day Update 7 shipped. Whether the run itself was recorded before or after the patch is not established, so this page does not describe it as a post-Update-7 route.
- The three tooltip figures are read aloud from one screen in one video. No second source shows the item.
- The 40 and 30 comparison values are that player's own equipped weapons, not item baselines. Treat them as context for his sentence, not as a weapon table.
- The damage-over-time effect has no magnitude or duration on this page because the recording does not give one.
- Blind Grotto is the cave the ring quest wants, not where the knife is. The knife is in the chest at the top of the tower.
- Update 7 states that the intro to the tower is now a proper dungeon crawl, that many new points of interest were added, and that acrobatics now correctly prevents damage from high falling velocity. Whether any of that changes this climb, the chest, or the bridge is not established by anything cited here.
- The pass the walkthrough climbs through is transcribed by machine captions as “the hour pass”, which is not a plausible name. This page does not guess at what it is called.
Common mistakes
- Searching Blind Grotto for the knife. The grotto belongs to the ring quest; the knife is up the tower.
- Following the main road at the fork. The route goes the other way, towards the archer.
- Stopping to fight the archer or the enemies at the top. The walkthrough ignores both and still gets the chest.
- Reading 55 against 30 as proof that daggers beat two-handed weapons. Those are one player's current weapons.
- Publishing a damage-over-time number. No source cited here shows one.
- Grinding at the bridge near the campfire. The one recorded attempt fails on an acrobatics check and nothing here shows what is across it.
Still unverified
- What is across the bridge by the campfire? Not verifiedOne walkthrough tries repeatedly, fails on acrobatics, and asks his own viewers. No source cited here reaches it.
- What acrobatics level does the jump need? Not verifiedThe recording says only that his skill is not good enough, without a number.
- What spell is in the chest? Not verifiedHe says the chest holds a spell and several potions without naming them.
- Does the knife's damage over time have a stated value? Not verifiedThe tooltip is on screen but only three figures are read aloud.
