What should I prepare before entering the Tower?

The game answers this question four times over, in dialogue, and its answer is not a checklist. Nobody — not an NPC, not a changelog, not a creator — states a level, an item or a stat.

Quick answer

There is no stated requirement. What the game does instead is warn you, repeatedly and vaguely: the merchant assumes you are Tower-bound and sells supplies for it, the seer tells you outright not to arrive unprepared, and the merchant later tells you to take time and train because the creatures get more aggressive when someone strong-willed shows up. Take the training advice literally — level up and buy supplies first — and treat any specific launch-week checklist as stale, because Update 7 rebuilt the Tower introduction into a dungeon crawl on 21 August 2026 and no recording of the rebuilt version has been read here.

Early Access note: this page is verified for Early Access Update 7; mechanics, locations and commands may change in later updates.

Steps

  1. Talk to the merchant in Magdal's Rest. He raises the Tower himself, before you have said anything, and tells you that you will need supplies.
  2. Do the town's side quests. The one line in this repository that reads as advice rather than atmosphere is what the merchant says when you hand one back: take time to train yourself.
  3. Hear the seer on the hill out to the end. Her reading closes with the instruction not to arrive unprepared, and it is the only description of what waits down there as competent rather than merely dangerous.
  4. Spend the money on supplies rather than saving it. Nobody records what the entrance checks, so consumables you can carry are the preparation nobody can tell you is wrong.
  5. Do not go looking for a level to reach. There is no stated one, and the rest of this page is about why.

What the game itself says

The merchant in Magdal's Rest opens by assuming where you are going. Two channels recording on different days transcribe the same line: “If you’re headed into the tower, which I think you most certainly are, you’ll need supplies.” One of them also catches his shop greeting — “Supplies may have a cost, but being prepared is priceless.” That is the game putting the question and its own vague answer in the first shop conversation.

The seer on the hill is blunter. Both recordings of her reading end the same way: “Go into the tower … The vision will not come to you by asking. Only by becoming. Do not arrive unprepared. The stage hands know their parts well and dream themselves your better.” She is the only source in this repository that describes what is down there as competent rather than merely dangerous.

The one line that behaves like advice rather than atmosphere comes from the merchant after a side quest is returned: “I know you’re anxious to go down that hole. Take some time to train yourself. These various vile creatures tend to get more aggressive anytime a strong willed person arrives.” The player recording it summarises the town's position in one sentence — everybody in the village tells him to take his time and power up before going.

What nobody says

  • No NPC names a level, a skill, an item, a quantity or a spell.
  • No changelog states an entry requirement. Update 7 says the introduction is now a dungeon crawl; it does not say what the crawl asks for.
  • No creator read here publishes a preparation list for the Tower at all, before or after Update 7.
  • Nobody records whether the Tower has a point of no return. The absence is recorded rather than resolved — no source says there is one, and no source says there is not.

Requirements / limits

  • Update 7, on 21 August 2026, states that the intro to the Tower is now a proper dungeon crawl. Whatever the entrance asked of you before that date, it is not what it asks now.
  • Update 6, on 20 August 2026, says many quest requirements were made more lenient, so a checklist written from the launch build may demand more than the current game does.
  • Update 7 also rebalanced one-handed weapons and enemy health after Hotfix 5 had already rebalanced both, which means gear advice from the first week was written against different numbers.
  • Every recording quoted on this page was made between 17 and 19 August 2026. The dialogue is what those builds said; the advice inside it is general enough to survive a patch, which is precisely why it is quotable and a gear list would not be.
  • None of this is unusual for the game. NerveLabs shipped five hotfixes and two numbered updates in the five days between the 17 August 2026 release and 21 August 2026, and said in Hotfix 3 that the rapid cadence would continue.

Why this page publishes no numbers

A preparation page that invents a level range would be indistinguishable from one written without playing the game, and this site would have no way to correct it later, because there would be nothing to check it against. The honest answer to the reader's question is that the game answers it in mood rather than in numbers, and that the mood is consistent across every NPC who mentions the Tower.

The one detail worth acting on is the merchant's, because it is mechanical rather than atmospheric: he ties enemy aggression to the player, not to the place. If that is a description of level scaling, then “level up first” is worth less than it sounds and preparation means gear and consumables rather than character level. Nobody has tested it, so it sits in the open questions below rather than in the answer.

Common mistakes

  • Following a launch-week preparation list. Update 7 rebuilt the Tower introduction on 21 August 2026; anything written before that describes a different entrance.
  • Reading the merchant's aggression line as a confirmed scaling mechanic. A shopkeeper said it. Nobody has tested it.
  • Treating “no stated requirement” as “no requirement”. The two are not the same, and this page publishes the first, not the second.
  • Clicking past the seer. Her reading is where the game states its own warning most plainly, and it is two sentences long.
  • Assuming a point of no return, or assuming there is none. No source cited here establishes either.

Still unverified

  • Which items or skills are actually required before the Tower? Not verifiedNo NPC, changelog or recording states one. General role-playing-game advice is not evidence for this game's gate.
  • Is there a point of no return at the Tower? Not verifiedNo source we have read states one, and no source states there is not one. The absence is recorded rather than resolved.
  • Do enemies scale with the player?Single unconfirmed reportOne NPC line says the creatures get more aggressive when a strong-willed person arrives. That is a character speaking, not a mechanics note, and nobody has tested whether difficulty tracks the player's level.
  • What does the rebuilt Update 7 Tower introduction ask for?Not verifiedNo recording made after 21 August 2026 has been read here. This is the single thing that would change this page most.
